Circa 1890, a Chippendale-style mahogany pedestal desk by ‘James Shoolbred & Co’. The top with insert green and gold tooled leather writing surface, with nine mahogany lined drawers, with stylish blind fretwork carved fronts, 18th century style gilt brass Rococo shaped handles, ‘JAs Shoolbred & Co’, stamped across the top edge of one of the drawers, the locks are better quality than normal, and are stamped ‘Hobbs &Co London’, all resting on bold ogee shaped feet with the original concealed castors.
