A Japanese Meiji period tansu chest in the second Sendai Dansu style, made of keyaki wood, the large rectangular chest top with wonderful patination with visible dovetails and metal strapping, the front with a variety of combinations of full-length drawers of various sizes with smaller ones on the right, with a small cupboard with a bank of drawers behind it, all with very elaborate iron work; to the sides are a pair of lifting handles and a large metal bracket for carrying the chest with a wooden beam, retaining three original keys, all in excellent condition.
