A striking portrait of a wisened sage. Oil on canvas. Circa. early-mid 20th century.


The sage is adorned in white robes and depicted glancing knowingly over his shoulder. The canvas has been stapled to the frame verso giving the work at 3D appearance, the frame functioning as a window frame. The frame itself appears to have been deliberately distressed to compliment the work.


An unusual, eye-catching work.
