Robert Heritage was one of the most awarded designers in the history of the British Design Council. He was appointed a Royal Designer for Industry in 1963 and Professor of the School of Furniture at the Royal College of Art from 1974-1985. He also was awarded a CBE for his outstanding achievements and contribution to British Industry. This Hamilton sideboard was designed by Heritage and produced by the manufacturer Archie Shine, to be sold in the British furniture store, Heals, in the 1960s.
