Nino Caruso was an important figure in 20th century Italian ceramics. Often using mythological and symbolic themes in his early work, Caruso also achieved a vast knowledge of ceramic techniques throughout his career. He was awarded Chair of Ceramic Design at the State Institute of Art in Rome as well as having numerous exhibitions and collaborations with universities in the US.
