An Italian school 17th Century oil on canvas after Giovanni Salvo Da Sassoferrato (1609-1685).


The painting depicts "La Sainte Famille" and is framed in an elaborately carved Italian wood, gesso and gilded frame with the artists name painted on the surround.


When we found it. the painting was under glass which has protected it well.  For its age, the painting is in very good condition with no losses. We have had it very lightly cleaned and we are delighted with the results.


It is a beautiful piece of 17th century art. Serene and warm whether or not you relate to the religious context.
