A gothic reliquary of large proportions. c1890, reputed to have come from the Convent of the Poor Clares, Ladbroke Grove, West London. Carved wood with glass windows. Stunning one off display cabinet possibly for a skull or provocative piece. ​Ornate gothic carvings to all four sides. Substantial and heavy. A 'find me another' piece that will completely shine out in any interior. A reliquary (also referred to as a shrine or by the French term châsse) is a container for relics. These may be the purported or actual physical remains of saints, such as bones, pieces of clothing, or some object associated with saints or other religious figures.
