Item Details

An absolutely gorgeous cast iron day bed, made in France circa 1890, the deeply cast floral design with acanthus leaves and scrolls, it exudes early French Nouveau influences. The wooden framed cushioned bed base has been fully re-upholstered in a natural linen fabric, we have also commissioned two matching bolster cushions in the same linen fabric.

There have been 3 historic weld repairs to the frame, these are barely noticeable among the incredibly intricate design of the cast frame.

Each of the sleigh shaped ends sit upon the four original iron castors and the frame is secured with coach bolts (all are replacements of the originals), so the frame can be taken apart into 3 pieces, the base and the two ends.

This is a very heavy and wonderfully decorative antique piece and would grace any interior.
