https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/lct-homeA striking and highly decorative pair of late 19th-century Anglo-Indian carved hardwood plant stands, meticulously reimagined and professionally converted into a monumental pair of bespoke table lamps.
Each base is hand-carved from a dense, richly patinated ebonized hardwood, featuring a tripartite composition of highly detailed elephant heads. The elephants are masterfully sculpted with beautifully curved trunks that meet the floor to form stable, elegant feet, accented by finely detailed, contrasting white wooden tusks.
The upper section of each stand consists of a cylindrical column adorned with intricate, hand-etched floral and foliate bamboo stem motifs, characteristic of the fine craftsmanship of the Anglo-Indian period.
Sympathetically converted for contemporary luxury interiors, these stands have been fitted with custom brass risers and premium electrical components. They are presented here with tailored, neutral cream linen drum shades (these are for photographic purposes only and are not sold with the lamps), each lamp has been fitted with twisted black fabric flex, and takes a single B27 (large bayonet) bulb.
Both lamps are in very good antique condition, retaining their original character, minor structural age lines, and a wonderfully deep, authentic patina. Fully rewired and tested for modern use. There are historic repairs to two areas of the top rim on each of the lamp bases, some small losses to one tusk.
