Item Details

A truly exceptional pair of Memento Mori 'remember you must die' painted on board, these date to the 16th century and were originally housed in an North Italian Monastery, this incredible pair feature cloaked skeletons, head bowed in prayer. 

Historic repairs, restoration and alterations, these were most likely part of an original larger artwork. Both have been lacquered over time, to protect and retain the artworks. Small losses to the decorative framework and a small hole has been drilled into the top of each so they could be hung.
