Waring & Gillow small four poster bed
A large single 3'6" mahogany framed bed with tapering hexagonal columns with boxwood stringing, the arched top with turned finials to each corner. Complete with original upholstered sprung base. Made by the firm of Waring & Gillow which was the early 20th century evolution of the great cabinetmakers Gillows of Lancaster who continued to produce high quality furniture under the new name. This large single size of 3'6" or 105cm wide is a size of mattress that is readily available. The bed stands on square legs with plinth bases and also stands on a set of cast iron and lignum castors. The bed ends are removable for ease of installation. Complete with brass rods and eyes to the inside of the top rails to attach upholstery.
