This is an antique elbow chair. An English, needlepoint over beech and mahogany morning room seat in Art Nouveau taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

Domed crest rail with prominent ears hosts an embroidered back rest
Fretwork back splat with shaped centre is accentuated with boxwood stringing

Set at a comfortable height of 41cm (16.25'') with a traditionally stuffed cushion


Slender arms with tapered supports, gently swept out from the rear frame

Legs united from side to side and across with turned stretcher rails
