Fascinating example, with an expressive carved appearance
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good antique order
Select walnut presents fine grain interest and warm caramel hues
Waxed leather stool finished in a deep navy blue with a cross hatch pattern
Octagonal cushion set upon a riser, with a counter-clockwise action adding 11cm to the height
Delightfully broad barley twist support column houses the brass riser when lowered
Collar with scroll motif unites the column with the highly distinctive octagonal base
An octet of pad feet, each adorned with a relief carved cabochon
Gothic overtones redolent of ecclesiastic furniture popularised by Augustus Pugin (1812 - 1852)
This is a superb antique estate chapel organist's stool, with a desirable riser function and strong Gothic revival detail. A treat for the music room or within a public setting. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home or institution.
