This is an antique ornate letter rack. An Italian, gilt metal stationery stand or desk tidy, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

Striking Continental taste with classical decoration
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order

Serpentine forms with scroll motif throughout

Dome top back rest hosts the first of three figural masques
Two letter compartments with inset glass slide to base
Across the front fascia, a jovial cherub in flight on the back of an eagle
Raised upon short scrolled legs to each corner
