Our Stock # 10.1455
This is a Victorian antique Davenport dating to the mid 19th century, c.1850.
Riding on the original brass castors beneath the plinth base, this davenport benefits from the unusual feature of a swivel top allowing the writing slope to turn through ninety degrees offering knee room whilst sat at the desk.
A shallow gallery backs the uppermost surface and a flying hinged pen drawer is to found to the right hand side. A further four drawers with turned pulls and brass keyhole linings, key absent, offer plentiful storage.
Lifting the lid reveals further storage with a single stationery drawer to the rear of the compartment is dressed with turned pulls.
The rich dark tones of the rosewood are set off by the light, gold tooled skiver writing surface.
A super and rare example, solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
