Fascinating British military and sporting interest with superb personalised detail
Displays a desirable aged patina, with a gently time-worn nature from careful use
Quality canvas with leather and press stud construction for an enduring, robust form
Lid held securely with a sliding clasp lock — untested, key absent

Stencil name to the lid reads Donovan, for Captain C.H. Donovan, later Major Donovan
Case decorated with remnants of travel labels, bearing his name before the promotion in rank
A long-serving member of the British Military, serving in WWII, the Malaya Emergency and Aden
After being captured as a Prisoner of War, his time with Ghurkas sent him to British Malaya

A keen golfer, two associated silver plated tankards add appealing sporting interest
The first tankard bears the Ghurkas' emblem of two crossed Khukuris and the date for 1951
Second tankard represents Major Donovan's win in the 1951 Heather Cup tournament
This tournament was hosted at the Ipoh golf course by the Perak Turf Club Sports Club

This is a charming antique travel trunk, steeped in historic reference to the movement of a prominent mid century officer and keen sportsman. The associated tankards add further interest to this fascinating and delightfully aged case. Delivered ready to display.
