This is a long vintage Meshwani hallway runner. A Caucasian, woven rug or hall carpet, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1960.

Of useful reception hall size at 61cm x 273cm (24" x 107.5")
Displays a desirable aged patina with rich colour and minimal sun fading
Deep crimson red ground decorated with a palette of blue and white hues
Offering a comfortable underfoot feel and free of wear

Six large diamond medallions to the central panel, decorated with sawtooth pattern
Geometric patterns in deep blue enclose each diamond and framed by triangular forms
Dashed red and blue border continues around the whole, with a darker blue border to the outside
Bands of Kilim weave at each end and dressed with short, tightly packed tassels
