This is a set of four vintage side chairs. An English, ash and elm hoop back reception hall seat with military broad arrows, dating to the WWII period, dated 1939.

Fascinating military order chair set with great colour and delightful form
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Crafted in ash and elm, showing fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Ordered to MoD specification by Joynson, Holland & Co and Wake & Dean respectively

Lovely hoop back crest rails, with splayed spindles and two canted spindles to the rear
Shaped saddle squabs set at a comfortable height of 45cm (17.75'')
Maker's engravings and broad arrows found upon the reverse edge of the seat squab
Standing upon a quartet of tapering legs and united with double H stretchers

This is a charming set of vintage side chairs, of fascinating provenance for collectors of WWII period furniture or military craftsmanship in general. Equally useful for a reception hall or waiting room. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home or institution.
