This is a vintage carved cigar box. An Oriental, teak keepsake or jewellery case with dragon motif, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.


Profusely carved appearance sure to delight atop a desk or dressing table
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Select teak stocks present deep caramel hues, with a lighter natural finish to the interior
Fascia dressed with an inset lock — in working order, key present


Striking lid, playing host to opposing dragons flanking a medallion with Imperial China emblem
Of fine detail, each dragon accentuated with impressive scale work
Relief carved foliate and crescent pattern borders the lid decor over a dappled ground


Each fascia presents pairs of mythical creatures to add to the visual interest
Opens to reveal a trio of divisions, ideal for cigar storage or other small items
Dressed to the base with a protective covering, adding confidence for placing on delicate surfaces
