Item Details

A good example of a 19th Century Japanese style occasional table by French cabinet maker Gabriel Viardot. With carved cherry blossom and finely inlaid panels showing warriors on horseback along with pagodas and trees. A carved frieze and platform beneath, ending in claw feet. The legs have inset bronze panels at the top. Gabriel Viardot 1830-1904, a famous Parisian cabinet maker specialising in Chinese and Japanese genre furniture in the last third of the 19th Century.
