Swedish Circa 1810
The inset Bardiglio marble top over a gilt wood frieze of carved cymatium (sea shells) and pearl boarder above two elaborately carved dolphin supports sitting on a faux black marble wooden base.
A fine quality of carving, proportions and style all point to Jonas Frisk (Swedish 1787-1849).
Jonas Frisk was a Stockholm craftsman who in 1805 was granted the right to produce mirrors and consoles by the Kommerskollegium. From 1810-1814 his workshop was located at the Storkyrkobrinken and his final location was at the Riddarhustorget from 1814-1825 eventually employing up 15 people.
