Finished in rich black japanned lacquer, it features exquisite raised hand-painted Oriental scenes and gilded floral detailing. The fall-front opens smoothly, automatically extending arm supports to reveal a red felt writing surface, fitted with pigeonholes and a small drawer for stationery and letters.


Three drawers below provide additional storage, each with brass drop handles, while the bureau stands gracefully on cabriole legs with fine painted highlights.
