A fine black chinoiserie glazed secretaire bookcase of breakfront design, in two sections.


The upper section features astragal glazed doors with fixed shelves behind, enclosed by decorative chinoiserie panels, and retains its working lock and key.


The lower section is fitted with an arrangement of drawers, the central drawer opening to reveal a fitted secretaire interior with pigeonholes, a small drawer, and a tooled brown leather writing surface. Beautifully decorated throughout with gilt chinoiserie scenes of figures, landscapes, and floral motifs.


In good condition, this elegant and practical bookcase makes a striking statement piece while offering both display and storage.
