A fine 19th century Victorian mahogany military chest of drawers, dating to circa 1850.


The chest comes in 2 pieces featuring classic brass bound corners and recessed campaign handles, along with a rich coloured mahogany.


The configuration comprises two short drawers over three long graduated drawers, all oak-lined and well-constructed. The top right drawer conceals a discreet sliding compartment, offering useful hidden storage.


The piece retains an original maker’s label for Ross & Co., Dublin, one of the most renowned makers of campaign furniture in the Victorian period, known for supplying high-quality portable pieces to British army officers. Their work is particularly sought after for its durability, and clever design features.
