Item Details

A 19th century copper weathervane arrow, mounted on a bespoke-made steel stand. This example is unusual in having an additional fletch (or fin) to the back of the arrow. Normally they are made with only two fletches, so that they are more two-dimensional in profile. There are layers of old paintwork on the copper, and where this has flaked off, you can see some of the original gilding that once covered the arrow surface.
