https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/matt-crosby-interiorsA well made set of six Cotswold School oak dining chairs with original leather drop in seats. One chair stamped: F H Burland. Circa late 1920s.
Made in English oak with exposed dovetail construction to the top rails, traditional pegged joints, and chamfered edges throughout. The structural detailing and proportions align with early Gordon Russell workshop practice.
Each chair individually stamped 1–6.
All chairs are uniform in colour, with the oak in good, clean condition. There are some water marks and knocks, mainly to the front rails and the stretchers. One front leg shows an old repair near the stretcher. This was previously glued and remains stable and secure. The repair has been colour matched and is very discreet. Please refer to the last two photographs.
The chairs are structurally sound with no loose joints. The leather seats are a mid tan colour and comfortable. All show expected wear to the leather, including dent marks and use related impressions, as photographed. As drop‑in seats, they could be easily re‑covered if required. The seat heights are 47cm.
