A well made antique Jacobean revival chest of oak drawers. Circa 1900.


The chest is arranged with a large geometric designed top drawer over two short drawers, all framed with raised panel mouldings. Standing on well designed bracket feet with a shaped apron. Probably made by a local cabinet maker or estate workshop, as some earlier oak elements are incorporated into the construction, which is quite charming.


The drawers have the original brass drop handles and are constructed in the 17th century style, with wide oak sides and backs and a central runner. They have handmade dovetail construction. The drawers have been cleaned on the insides and all three work very smoothly. The pine drawer boards showing differences in colour, these are original.


There is no woodworm. The top has had a nail added at some point to the front corners, this has opened the oak up a little and the left hand side has moved upward slightly with age. There is a slightly noticeable ring mark to the back of the top.


The chest of drawers has been sympathetically refinished with a shellac based polish and waxed. It still retains a few light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. Presenting beautifully.
