The plafonnier with iridescent opaline glass bowl and distinctive glass frit speckled decoration, created by fusing coloured glass frit onto a molten glass base. The bowl shows a soft pearlescent glow with multicoloured speckling towards the lower section. The bowl sits on a reeded brass support, held by hand forged sinuous iron arms, suspended on three chains leading to a brass ceiling rose hook. The ceiling rose is antique and period appropriate, though not the original. Finished with a brass finial to the underside.
The bowl rests on three white rubber supports that give clearance to the brass frame. One support sits slightly lower than the others, making the bowl marginally off square in relation to the frame, though this is not visible when installed.
The lamp has later earthed rewiring, professionally checked and fitted with a bronze‑coloured three core cable. Safe and ready to use. 68cm diameter from the iron arms.
