Impressive hallmarked sterling silver Elizabeth II English owl pair of salt shakers. Made by Richard Comyns - London 1967.


These novelty salt shakers are hallmarked for the same year. While a marriage set, they present beautifully together and make an excellent formal table pairing, intended to sit at opposite ends of a larger table setting.


Modelled as standing owls with wonderful detailed plumage, very finely cast, and ornamented with original bead eyes.


The pull-off lids in the shape of heads are each pierced. The inner covers are hallmarked with the Lion Passant and date letter m.


The owls are in very good condition and have a lovely tactile feel. There is no damage to the glass eyes, and they are ready for use. One of the heads is slightly loose to the main body, but does hold when twisted into position.
