A compact and beautifully proportioned Art Deco walnut desk by Heal's of London. Labelled. Circa 1930.


An excellent quality desk made in solid and veneered walnut, the top having highly figured book match veneers with a crossbanded edge. The stretcher with through tenon construction is a nice touch.


The rectangular top sits over a bank of three drawers, each with the original turned wooden knobs. Standing on ends with a step profile design, the reverse is also finished with figured walnut and does not have to sit against a wall.


The drawers all work smoothly and are very clean on the insides and have dovetail construction.


The desk has been sympathetically re-finished in an light shellac and has a smooth finish, still retaining a few light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. There is a small piece of walnut missing to the through tenon construction, but this is not on show when in situ. Please refer to the photographs.


As the compact size suggests, this would also work well as a console table.
