https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/matt-crosby-interiorsMid Century Italian lacquered vellum & polished brass large table lamp with shade. Attributed to Aldo Tura (1909–1963). Circa 1960.
The lamp base is in good condition, showing some signs of use to the lacquer. There are a few small nibbles to a back corner and one to the front to note, and under close inspection a small part has been retouched over a missing lacquer. Please refer to the photographs. The are a also a few marks to the polished brass to note. Please note, the photographs show some light reflections.
The tapering black pleated shade is vintage from the same era, this has a light gold inner, and looks great with the base. It is in very good condition for its age, with no damage. The interior has a few marks to note. A spacer has been added to fit the base.
The lamp has been PAT tested this year, before we purchased it, so you may wish to have a professional look at it.
The lacquered vellum is typical and quite unique of Aldo Tura’s work. Tura began manufacturing his signature furniture in the 1930s. Working between the idioms of Art Deco and Modernism, Tura created singular, high-end furniture and accessories that were typified by rich materials, sculptural forms and artisanal techniques. He favoured intricate, complex forms and labour-intensive processes that could never by replicated in a large-scale factory system. He is recognized as being one of the most original and important artisans of the Italian post-war design movement.
