Late Victorian solid brass standing church lectern. Circa 1890.


The reading slope swivels and is pierced with Gothic tracery. At its centre, an engraved monogram bearing initials 'IHR' within a circular medallion. The reverse is decorated with bold quatrefoil motifs. The slope descends to a turned central column with ringed and knop details, standing on a circular base raised on claw form feet.


There is some residue from earlier cleaning, though the piece appears not to have been cleaned for some time. The brass retains a warm, mellow patina overall, with age toning within the recesses. There is one screw missing from the lectern but this does not detract from its use in any way.


As shown in the photographs, the lectern top lifts off.


A piece that would work very well in the hospitality sector.
