https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/matt-crosby-interiorsStylish mid century sofa by Scandart of High Wycombe. Circa late 1950/60s.
As the name suggests, the firm's ethic was based on Scandinavian-inspired design with British craftmanship, this sofa having a resemblance to the sofa designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen Model Fd 144 in the early 1950s.
Made in solid beechwood with bent ply beech arms, giving it a marvellous sleek look. The sofa has been fully restored, the frame sympathetically re-finished by hand, with a very smooth waxed finish, still retaining light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. The frame has been re-webbed and reupholstered with new foams. The fabric is from the Bute design studio, Scottish Isles. A vibrant contemporary take on their tweed fabric, with rich hues in textured flecks. 94% Pure New Wool & 6% Nylon.
The two close-up photographs of the fabric demonstrate it in and out of the sunshine.
A two to three seater sofa, the back cushions matching the curve in the frame. It would be a snug fit for three people.
The upholstery as a whole complies with fire regulations. There are downloadable certificates for the fabric if needed.
Please let me know if you wish to have a swatch.
The seat height is 37cm. The cushion width inbetween the arms is 147cm. The cushion back heights are 48cm.
