https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/matt-crosby-interiorsA stunning mid-century Italian chinoiserie sideboard designed by Umberto Mascagni for Harrods. Circa 1960s.
One of the more desirable designs by Mascagni, image number 6 shows an original photograph of the cabinet in its first home in the Barbican after being purchased from Harrod's.
With gold coloured anodized aluminium edging, the sideboard stands on tapering legs in faux leather. The door panels and top have a cloth base with painted chinoiserie figures and foliage detail behind glass. The doors are framed in cushioned, textured pvc-type fabric, matching the cushioned ends. The sideboard retains the original keys, in working order.
The sideboard has the original low mirrored back upright. This can be removed if required as seen in the photographs. Overall the sideboard is in very good condition. There are some light marks around the sideboard, mainly to the door frames. The glass top has no damage, but shows scratch marks with use. The mirror has a few light scratch marks to note.
The legs are removeable. We will be removing these for packing and transport, as well as the struts for the mirror back.
The interior has mirrored doors showing oxidation, and a recessed shelf to hold bottles to one side. There are marks of use to the inside cupboard and drawer spaces.
The glass on the top is not fixed. The anodized gold colour has mellowed in brightness over the years.
Delivery included to mainland England, Wales, and Southern Scotland.
