https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/matt-crosby-interiorsVictorian country house Gothic Revival cast iron stick stand, attributed to Coalbrookdale. Circa 1870.
In untouched condition. Note the particularly attractive and hard to find original stone grey painted finish, which is now gently worn through years of use.
The stand is raised on pierced Gothic tracery end supports with carrying handles. The apron displays crisp leaf ornamentation. There are a series of 16 circular divisions for walking sticks, umbrellas and canes, while the original removable drip trays remain in place below. One of the trays has a few small holes to the base.
Although unmarked, the quality of the casting and design is entirely in keeping with the work for which Coalbrookdale became renowned during the Victorian period.
It is worth noting that the end sections appear to have been cast or assembled the opposite way around, unless this was by design, resulting in one knop facing the front of the stand and the other facing the back.
