English Antique Painting of Castle Rushen
A lovely English early 19th century antique naive oil painting of Castle Rushen on the Isle of Man when it was used as barracks. In great condition and mounted in a maple wood frame, this Isle of Man antique painting has an inscription on the back saying, The Barracks or Prison – Castletown – Isle Of Man by Douglas Shaw and given to Uncle Joc. A very nice, English primitive antique painting of Castle Rushen in the capital of the Isle of Man, Castletown. Dates from around 1816 when troops were sent there. A fascinating piece of Manx history.
