Wonderful Peter Waals 1930’s Oak Cupboard – Stamped
A beautifully made solid oak cupboard, by Peter Waals in 1933, for one of his main patrons, Alfred James. Alfred was one of only a handful of Peter Waals patrons and he helped Peter set up a workshop, Hallidays Mill at the foot of Cowcombe Hill in the village of Chalford. This Chalford workshop produced pieces of Waals furniture from 1920 up to 1937, all were high quality hand made pieces to Waals and Norman Jewson’s designs. This Peter Waals oak two door cupboard has raised panels to the doors with the original octagonal handles with wooden catches on the back. Beautifully made with a quarter sawn oak top with original butterfly joint decorations. In superb, original condition, a rare opportunity to own a piece of Peter Waals furniture being in such high quality and honest condition. Stamped A. James for Alfred James and dated 6th of September, 1933.
