Item Details

Rare antique cushioned Venetian mirror, circa 1840. The outer frame is decorated with long scallop cut edges, the inner frame with small scallop cut edges and the central frame section is bevelled. Each piece is secured with a glass flower or leaf and every corner has a symmetrical decoration of a curled leaf with elongated curving husk reminiscent of a cornucopia. All the small pieces are held in place with small, glass flower-topped, screws. There is a little age and wear in the frame sections but the central, bevelled, mercury glass is in lovely original condition and gives an excellent reflection. This unusual mirror can be hung portrait, as photographed, or landscape.
