Item Details

Late 19th century French archtop mirror with wide, lemon gold, frame decorated with an etched, burnished, design of acorns and oak leaves. Where this mirror has been dusted for more than 100 years, the gilding has thinned in places, becoming more silver and allowing the dark bole (clay layer beneath the gilding) to show through which helps to highlight the design. The original glass is in very good condition and gives an excellent reflection and this attractive mirror would work well as an overmantel.
