Late 19th century French mirror with narrow, outcurving, burnished, watergilt, frame. Where the mirror has been dusted for more than a century, the gilding has thinned a little revealing the lines where the sheets of gold leaf overlapped and hints of the dark terracotta bole beneath. The mirror plate has just a hint of age, gives an excellent reflection and this elegant mirror can be hung portrait, as photographed, or landscape.
