Item Details

Antique French mirror, circa 1840, with beautifully etched gilt frame decorated with an undulating flower and leaf design. As the gilding has thinned, after almost 200 years of dusting, the etched design is revealed in gentle shades of terracotta, cream and gold. Each corner of the frame is decorated with a small posy of flowers and leaves and a delicate overlapping acanthus leaf border runs along the sight edge of the mirror. The original, mercury glass is in very good condition, giving an excellent reflection and this attractive mirror can be hung landscape as well as portrait (as shown in the photographs).
