Item Details

Elegant antique French oval mirror, circa 1890, with narrow, burnished, watergilt frame finished with a delicate row of beading around the sight edge. Where the mirror has been dusted for more than 100 years, the gilding has thinned just a little in places showing hints of the terracotta bole beneath the gold leaf and also showing faint lines where the sheets of gold leaf overlapped. The mirror glass is from the same period and gives an excellent reflection. A lovely, classic, French oval which add a touch of understated elegance to any setting.
