Item Details

Large, rectangular, antique French mirror, circa 1840, with gently outcurving gilt frame. The central section of the frame is beautifully etched with inter-twining stems, flowers and leaves changing to a fanned acanthus leaf at each corner. The outside edge has a delicate diagonal raised ribbon-twist and bead design and the sight edge is decorated with a very small decoration of raised acanthus leaves. The original, mercury glass, has some small areas of age but sparkles where it catches the light and gives an excellent reflection. This mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape.
