Item Details

A lovely, decorative, antique Venetian mirror, circa 1890, with outset corners and oval central glass. The main frame sections are a dark, midnight blue, decorated with a raised, intricate, gilt design of flowers, stems and leaves. The dark blue is offset by an inner band of silvered mirror with bubbles, or circles, etched into the back of the glass as well as a silvered leaf at each quarter. The mirror has an upper cartouche of large, scrolling acanthus leaves either side of a midnight blue oval medallion with gilt floral decoration, topped with a leaf "hat" and a simpler, wide leaf decorates the base. There is a little age in some of the silvered pieces which is absolutely consistent with the age of this mirror, but the central glass is clear and gives an excellent reflection.
