Item Details

A very delightful little antique Venetian oval tabletop mirror, circa 1840, with bevelled cobalt blue frame, held at each join with a leaf-shaped glass piece which is secured with little diamond-cut glass topped screws. The bow cartouche has a blue flower and leaf central decoration and the original, bevelled glass has a band of dainty scallop cuts enhancing the oval shape. The mirror is fitted within a wooden back with a sliding support allowing adjustment to the angle of the mirror and is supported by two tapering, bobbin, wooden legs. This mirror is all mercury glass, which allows us to date it as made before 1845, when production of that glass ceased.
