 Early 18th century, French, giltwood mirror with silverleafed frame decorated with simplified carved acanthus leaves and flowers and diagonal cross-hatching. The lower, rectangular section of the mirror has swept corners and an inner frame linked with floral and foliate motifs and contains the original, now foxed, mercury glass which has the appearance of marble. The mirror is topped with a high giltwood "fronton" of acanthus leaves with three stemmed flowers encircled in the centre. This mirror is in remarkably good, original condition.
