Item Details

Small antique French archtop mirror, circa 1880, with etched silverleafed frame. Instead of the usual black base beneath the silverleaf, this mirror has a warm terracotta bole under the silver and, through more than 100 years of cleaning, the silverleaf has thinned a little allowing the etched leaf and flower design to show more clearly, lifted by the hints of terracotta beneath. The design changes at each lower corner which has an etched, fanned acanthus leaf. The original glass is in very good condition, gives an excellent reflection and this attractive little mirror would work well in a small bathroom.
