A second cartouche of acanthus leaves decorates the base. The watergilt frame is simply decorated with two rows of beading and the gilding wraps around the outside edges. The original mirror plate has a little, light age but gives an excellent reflection and the supporting wooden legs are only for ease of transportation and will be removed when the mirror is hung. Mirrors decorated with pairs of birds were used as a symbol of love and often given as a wedding gift.transportation and will be removed when the mirror is hung.
