Item Details

19th century antique French mirror, circa 1840, with narrow reeded gilt frame. Where this mirror has been cleaned for nearly two centuries, the gilding has thinned revealing the cream gesso and pale terracotta bole beneath the gold leaf. The original, mercury glass is in very good condition and gives an excellent reflection. This mirror could be used as en "entre deux" placed between two windows or doors. It would also make a useful full-length mirror in a small room.
