Item Details

Very large, rectangular, antique French Bistro mirror, circa 1840, with narrow, watergilt frame. Where this mirror has been cleaned for almost 200 years, the gilding has worn revealing the burnished terracotta bole beneath. The original, mercury glass has age around the lower outer edges in the form of narrow bands of foxing, but sparkles beautifully with the central glass clear and giving an excellent reflection. This mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape.
